Buckholm Tower

In 1582, John Pringle of Tynnis built what must be one of the highest placed (in altitude) towers to survive although now it is really quite ruined. It has the remains of the barmkin wall still showing as well as the hooks in the basement ceiling which remind us of the Tale of the Wicked Laird of Buckholm and his prisoners, some Covenanters, and which led to the tower's supposed haunting. Lived in until the early 1900s, the Tower has deteriorated rapidly and is now very dangerous.
